Ambush in Kebbi Claims Lives of Nine Soldiers and Policeman

Armed gunmen attacked security operatives in the Giro Masa community of Shanga LGA, Kebbi State, on Tuesday night. Initial reports say nine soldiers and one police officer were killed and two military trucks set ablaze. Governor Nasir Idris visited the Federal Teaching Hospital in Birnin Kebbi to receive the bodies and injured personnel. He condemned the assault as barbaric and pledged that the state government would cover medical bills and support the families of the deceased. Residents who witnessed the attack described a scene of chaos and terror. The governor also conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the ambush site and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthen security across the state. Similar deadly raids by bandits and insurgent groups have previously claimed troops’ lives in northern Nigeria, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
