Gideon Jock Clinches PDP Ticket for Jaba/Zango-Kataf with 6,206 Votes

Gideon Jock Clinches PDP Ticket for Jaba/Zango-Kataf with 6,206 Votes

Hon. Gideon Jock emerged as the PDP flagbearer for Jaba/Zango-Kataf Federal Constituency after securing 6,206 votes in the party’s House of Representatives primary. He defeated his closest rival, Hon. Mathew Gwaza, who polled 113 votes, while Rijo Shekari came third with 83 votes. Returning officers described the exercise as peaceful and transparent throughout both the Jaba and Zango-Kataf axes. Jock thanked party leaders and delegates for what he called one of Kaduna State’s freest and fairest primaries. He pledged to drive development across the constituency if elected in 2027. He also extended an olive branch to his former rivals, urging them to unite for the progress of the PDP and the overall growth of Jaba/Zango-Kataf Federal Constituency.

It's interesting how the runner-up barely scored over a hundred votes despite supposed local support for Mathew Gwaza.

That overwhelming margin makes me wonder if the primary truly offered fair competition or was a formality by party bosses.

Local organizers should use this result to strengthen outreach and ensure more transparent voting processes in future primaries.
