Suspended PMAN President Installs Kinsman to Mask Multi-Million Naira Fraud
The National Executive Council of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has accused suspended President Pretty Okafor of unlawfully appointing his kinsman, Uche James, as National Treasurer. This move comes amid allegations of massive financial infractions and is said to be aimed at evading legal scrutiny. Under PMAN’s constitution, a suspended officer cannot dissolve cabinets or appoint new executives. The authentic treasurer, Baba Ojonugwa, led the investigation that uncovered suspicious multi-million naira real estate deals and unauthorized withdrawals. Okafor’s so-called “kangaroo” appointment is thus declared null and void. PMAN says this ploy is designed to block internal oversight, sabotage the ongoing forensic audit, and manipulate records to mislead security agencies. The council warns that any bank or institution honoring transactions from the illegal faction does so at its own legal peril. The authentic NEC reaffirms its support for the legitimate executive team and vows to cooperate fully with law enforcement. They promise to protect the union’s finances and ensure those responsible for exploiting PMAN face justice.
