Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Sweeps All 16 LGAs in Landslide Re-election

Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Sweeps All 16 LGAs in Landslide Re-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared APC’s Governor Biodun Oyebanji the winner of the Ekiti governorship poll. He polled 319,224 votes to win in every one of the state’s 16 local government areas. Dr. Wole Oluyede of the PDP scored 40,543 votes, while ADC’s Dare Bejide took 12,872. Oyebanji’s victory margin of over 278,000 votes highlights his overwhelming support. In Ijero LGA, he secured 25,506 votes against Oluyede’s 2,479 and Bejide’s 2,026. The PDP’s strongest showing came in Ikere, where Oyebanji led 11,116 to Oluyede’s 9,892. The clean sweep across all councils underscores the APC’s robust grassroots structure and the governor’s broad acceptance.

The gap between APC's 319,224 votes and PDP's 40,543 seems unusually large for a state election, raising questions about competitiveness.

No say im win all 16 LGAs means everyone agrees with him; plenty still feel PDP had stronger grassroots ideas behind the scenes.
