Military Operation in Adankolo Forest Frees Five Kidnap Victims — 1 of 6
1 / 6

Troops of 12 Brigade, 2 Division Nigerian Army, intercepted and rescued five kidnapped victims abandoned by fleeing terrorists during counter-terrorism operations in Kogi State on 17 June 2026. Acting on recent air interdiction directives, soldiers deployed from Forward Operating Base Oshokoshoko set up a blocking position along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route. Under intense military pressure, the terrorists fled and left the captives behind. The rescued victims were immediately secured, evacuated to safety, and taken to a military medical facility for treatment and stabilization. After medical checks, the victims were debriefed to gather intelligence for ongoing missions against remaining criminal elements. Plans are now underway to reunite them with their families once all administrative and health procedures are complete. Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade, praised the troops’ vigilance and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to dismantling terrorist camps and urged locals to share timely information to support sustained peace efforts.
