Algeria Renew Petkovic’s Contract Until 2028 After Impressive Run

Algeria Renew Petkovic’s Contract Until 2028 After Impressive Run

The Algerian Football Federation has rewarded coach Vladimir Petkovic with a two-year extension, keeping him in charge until 2028. Since his appointment in February 2024, Petkovic has led the Desert Foxes to 21 wins in 28 matches. He secured their place at the 2026 World Cup and guided Algeria to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The federation says the renewal reflects its commitment to stability after the team climbed from 43rd to 28th in the FIFA rankings. Algeria will open their World Cup campaign against Argentina on June 17 before facing Jordan and Austria.
