Army Neutralises ISWAP’s Chief Propagandist Abu Salim al-Barnawi in Borno Operation
The Nigerian military announced the death of Abu Salim al-Barnawi. He served as ISWAP’s chief photographer and propaganda coordinator. He was killed during a failed terrorist attack on a military position in Borno State. The Acting Military Information Officer said Abu Salim fell alongside other senior members of ISWAP’s mobile media unit. A recovered video camera confirmed their role in producing extremist content. Intelligence had linked him to cross-border raids into Cameroon before he joined the group’s media wing. The military said the strike dealt a significant blow to the group’s propaganda network. ISWAP later acknowledged his death in an obituary. The Joint Task Force vowed to continue operations to dismantle insurgent cells and restore lasting peace in the North-East.
