Ekiti Kidnap Probe Deepens with Two More Arrests
Two additional suspects have been arrested by the Ekiti State Police in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of the Ikere-West LCDA chairman, Hon. Rufus Olorunfemi, and another victim, Funso Ajayi. The suspects, identified as Daramola Sehinde and Oluyede Dapo, were taken into custody on June 6 by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit. They join three others arrested on June 4, bringing the total under investigation to five. Authorities say all will be thoroughly probed and charged in court. The command rejected claims by the PDP deputy governorship candidate that police used the Rapid Response Squad to intimidate opposition members. The spokesperson emphasized that every arrest was lawful and based solely on evidence of conspiracy, abduction and assault. Commissioner of Police Michael Falade urged residents to remain calm, reject false reports and cooperate with security efforts. He reiterated the force’s commitment to impartial law enforcement free from political influence.
