Oyo Driver Says He Was Forced At Gunpoint To Drive Suspected Vandals In Lagos

An Oyo driver has recounted how armed men coerced him at gunpoint to ferry suspected telecom vandals from Ibadan to Lagos. He was hired to collect inverter batteries in Iyana Ipaja. On the way, he grew uneasy and sent the passengers’ phone numbers to his wife and a police friend in Ibadan. When he refused to continue late at night, one of the men revealed a gun and ordered him to keep driving. He kept praying to see uniformed officers for rescue. At a road junction, he turned off the ignition and flagged down a policeman. The five suspects fled, leaving him behind. He insists he is innocent and is appealing for help.
