Nigeria, US Forces Neutralize Over 20 ISIS/ISWAP Militants in Metele Airstrikes
In a coordinated operation with US Africa Command, Nigerian forces carried out multiple airstrikes around Metele in Borno State. The Defence Headquarters stated the strikes followed intelligence on ISIS/ISWAP militants converging after the neutralization of commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki. More than 20 fighters were killed with no casualties among Nigerian or US personnel. The operation aims to disrupt terror networks, deny safe havens in northeastern Nigeria and protect national security. AFRICOM confirmed the strikes and noted ongoing assessments to fully gauge the impact of the operation.
