Makinde Appoints Substantive Rector, Other Principal Officers for The Polytechnic, Ibadan

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Dr. Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Dr. Olajide Taiwo Sherifat was appointed Registrar, Mr. Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole became Bursar, while Mr. Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola was named Librarian. The appointments were announced by the state government after the governor’s approval. The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, said the positions were filled through advertisements, screening and interviews conducted by the institution’s Governing Council. The new principal officers assumed office on July 31, 2026, for a single five-year term. The appointments end a prolonged period in which the institution’s key leadership roles were held in acting capacities.
