Morocco Accepts AFCON 2025 Title, Emphasises Focus on Regulations

Morocco Accepts AFCON 2025 Title, Emphasises Focus on Regulations — 1 of 5
1 / 5

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has acknowledged the CAF Appeal Board’s decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title and award it to Morocco. FRMF stressed that its protest targeted regulatory inconsistencies, not the on-field performance of any team. The federation reaffirmed its respect for the competition’s rules and its commitment to fair play. They also commended every nation that competed in the tournament and said they will issue a full statement after consulting their governing bodies. The Appeal Board applied Article 84 of the AFCON regulations, declaring Senegal to have forfeited the final after leaving the pitch in protest. As a result, Morocco was awarded a 3-0 victory.

How do you think Morocco's accept-and-regulate stance will influence CAF's appeal procedures?

I'm curious: do you think CAF will adjust its appeal timeline now that Morocco focuses on regulations?

Makes total sense! Their open attitude should nudge CAF into smoother, clearer appeal steps going forward.

Notice how FRMF stressed rules over any criticism of Senegal's actual play.

I can't shake the feeling that Morocco's acceptance is more about public image than genuine sportsmanship respect.

Federations should review CAF's rulebook thoroughly and maintain clear documentation before filing protests to avoid similar disputes.
