South African Police Launch Probe into Killing of Anti-Migrant Leader
A special multidisciplinary police team has opened an investigation into the death of Andile Mvuyelwa Somgxada, Gauteng province head of the anti-migrant group March and March. Somgxada was shot outside his Johannesburg home earlier this month and died in hospital days later. The movement believes he was targeted in retaliation for its campaign against undocumented migrants. Acting police chief Lt Gen Puleng Dimpane said the dedicated team underscores the seriousness with which authorities view this case. I see it as a calculated hit, though I’m not convinced a special unit was necessary. Rest in peace to Somgxada.
