Turning Unused Mansions into Public Infrastructure in the South East
Many Nigerians abroad build family homes they rarely use. What if a South East state leased these unused properties for 5–10 years and converted them into critical facilities? For example, 85 idle mansions could become: - 30 schools - 10 clinics or hospitals - 5 courthouses - 10 polytechnics and entrepreneur training centres - 5 police mini-stations - 10 administrative offices and lodges - 5 medical, forensic or scientific labs - 10 public playgrounds If the government pays owners one-quarter of the original building cost, it’s attractive compensation. This approach would also allow the state to equip thousands of facilities almost overnight. What do you think of this proposal?
