Speculation Mounts as Goodluck Jonathan May Pick PDP Nomination Form Monday

A close associate says it is unclear whether Jonathan will make the move despite growing pressure from various supporters. His camp describes the calls as coming from youth and political interest groups urging him to join the 2027 race. Meanwhile, Jonathan’s lawyers have asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a suit seeking to bar him from contesting next year’s election. They argue that earlier rulings up to the Court of Appeal have already settled the issue. Justice Peter Lifu has adjourned the hearing of Jonathan’s preliminary objection and the substantive suit to May 11. The case challenges a request to stop INEC from accepting or publishing his nomination.
