Chelsea Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen Joins Strasbourg on Season-Long Loan

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has joined RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan in Ligue 1. The Denmark international signed for Chelsea from Villarreal in 2024 and made 36 appearances across two seasons. He was part of the squad that won the UEFA Conference League in 2025 and later lifted the Club World Cup. Jorgensen featured 12 times in four competitions last season as Chelsea reached the semi-finals of both domestic cups. His move to Strasbourg gives him an opportunity for more regular first-team football in France. Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring Porto and Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa as they assess their goalkeeping options.

Will a full season at Strasbourg give Jorgensen the regular minutes he needs after making 36 appearances for Chelsea?

A season-long loan looks like a sensible next step for a goalkeeper who has already experienced Chelsea and a European trophy squad.

Thirty-six appearances across two seasons is not nothing, so this move should not automatically be treated as a setback.

The key will be consistent starts in Ligue 1; regular matches should matter more than simply being attached to a bigger squad.
