NDLEA Remands Drug Baron, Three Mexican Experts and Six Nigerians Over N480bn Meth Lab
The NDLEA arraigned 63-year-old Anochili Innocent, three Mexican nationals and six Nigerian suspects before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos. They face an 11-count charge for running a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Mowe Forest, Ogun State, where an estimated 2,419.48kg of the drug worth over N480bn was seized. The three Mexican defendants are Juan Carlos Meza Torrero, Nemecio Martinez Felix and Jesus López Valles. The six Nigerian suspects include Nwankwo Sunday Christian, Egwuonwu Uchenna Victor, Igwe Abuchi Remijus, Ifeanyichukwu Chibuike Joshua, Omonughwa Kingsley Orike and Nwobum Emeka. All pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors allege the syndicate conspired to produce and traffic methamphetamine and precursor chemicals between February and May 2026. Items recovered include 358kg of toluene, 1,834kg of hydrochloric acid and 22.5kg of acetone, as well as large quantities of P2P and phenyl acetic acid. Vehicles used for transport were also listed in the charge sheet. NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) described the operation as one of the most significant dismantlings of an industrial-scale narcotics network in Nigeria. The court remanded all ten in the Correctional Centre, Lagos, with trial resuming and bail applications set for 16th and 22nd July.
