Lagos Launches Snack Programme to Feed 30,000 Pupils Daily

Lagos Launches Snack Programme to Feed 30,000 Pupils Daily

Lagos State will feed 30,000 public primary pupils daily under a new nutrition drive to tackle classroom hunger. The “Adopt A School for Snacks For Thought – PBAT FEEDS!” initiative was unveiled by the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme along with a digital dashboard for tracking and accountability. In a pilot from June 30 to July 2, 2026, pupils will receive nutritious snacks and beverages each school day. Research shows that hunger hinders concentration, memory retention and class participation. The dashboard lets sponsors search schools by location, view profiles, commit support and monitor impact in real time. It aims to democratise giving and boost student attendance, focus and learning outcomes.

It's notable the scheme pairs feeding with a digital dashboard, but data integrity and real-time updates remain major concerns for transparent monitoring.

To make this work, community volunteers and local farmers should partner closely to supply fresh snacks and reduce logistical bottlenecks early on.
