IPOB Threatens Sanctions Against Members Defying Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned members against challenging the authority of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement, the organisation’s media secretary said anyone acting against Kanu’s directives or breaching the group’s Code of Conduct would face suspension, removal from office or expulsion. The announcement follows the dissolution of the third Directorate of State led by Chika Edoziem and the inauguration of a new leadership under US-based Chris Nwaọgụ. IPOB insists only Kanu can appoint, suspend or dismiss its principal officers. “Any individual or group that persists in defying the lawful authority of the Supreme Leader… shall face severe disciplinary measures,” the statement added.

It's notable how Kanu's directives still hold sway over IPOB despite his detention and ongoing legal battles.

Threatening sanctions against dissenters might actually fuel internal divisions rather than strengthen loyalty within the group.

Form a local committee to review and clarify Kanu's directives regularly, ensuring everyone understands the Code of Conduct before it's too late.
