Kwara Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper at POS While Allegedly Withdrawing Ransom

Kwara State Police say they have arrested Muhamodu Sanni, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate operating around the Obudu/Woru area of Ilorin East Local Government Area. The suspect was allegedly intercepted at a Point-of-Sale terminal while attempting to withdraw money believed to be ransom from the abduction of three people during an armed attack on Obudu Village on July 28, 2026. Police said intelligence-led investigations traced the syndicate’s communication, logistics and financial channels. During questioning, Sanni allegedly gave information about two other suspected members, identified as Aminu and Umar. The command said further operations are ongoing and urged residents to provide timely, credible information that could help tackle kidnapping and other crimes.
