Peter Obi and the ADC Alliance: Reform or Political Strategy?

I heard Peter Obi tell Magic FM listeners that working with ADC members accused of corruption gives him a chance to redeem them. He compared his approach to Jesus associating with tax collectors and prostitutes. I question how many of these politicians Obi has truly reformed. None have returned ill-gotten gains to the EFCC. Instead, I see his ADC alliance as a strategy to secure the party’s ticket for 2027. He will owe powerful figures like Malami, El-Rufai, Atiku and Kwankwaso major favors. If Obi wins, will his government fight corruption or preserve the status quo to satisfy party interests? I believe Nigerians should consider a national referendum for genuine change rather than another election cycle dominated by similar political elites.

I remain unconvinced that a single alliance will erase lingering doubts over corruption allegations.

It's interesting that Obi likened his work to Jesus associating with tax collectors, but we haven't seen clear examples of actual reform outcomes.

I'm not so sure borrowing religious analogies convinces voters; this tactic might distract from real accountability measures within the ADC alliance.

Focusing on transparent vetting processes and publishing progress reports for ADC members could help voters evaluate whether Obi's alliance drives real reform.
