Dangote Refinery Expansion to 1.4mbpd Set to Create 95,000 Skilled Jobs

Aliko Dangote has outlined plans to boost the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day. At peak construction, the project will employ about 95,000 skilled workers. He made the announcement during his induction as an honorary fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, calling the expansion a major milestone in Nigeria’s industrial transformation. Once complete, the enlarged refinery will surpass Jamnagar in India as the world’s biggest. It is expected to stimulate local manufacturing, deepen the oil and gas value chain, and enhance fuel security. The expansion aims to reduce reliance on imported products, deliver significant foreign exchange savings, and reflect a long-term vision for sustainable economic growth.
