Tinubu Urges Senate to Fast-Track Confirmation of Two Ministers and NMDPRA CEO

President Bola Tinubu has formally asked the Senate to confirm Mr Joseph Tegbe and Ambassador Olusola Enikanolaiye as ministers, citing Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution. Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letters at plenary and referred both nominations to the Committee of the Whole for urgent consideration. In a separate letter, the President also submitted Mr Rabiu Umar’s appointment as Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority under Section 41(6) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. Lawmakers agree the petroleum sector’s leadership plays a key role in national energy stability and will treat the request as a priority.
