Anambra Police Report Major Security Breakthroughs: Kidnap Rescue, Arms Seizure and Trafficking Busts
The Anambra State Police Command has announced a series of successful operations against kidnappers, cultists, traffickers and armed secessionist elements across the state. Officers rescued four kidnapped victims, including the Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital, Nkpor, following a fierce gun battle in Obosi. Two suspects were neutralized and a pistol, machine-gun ammunition, expended rounds and three vehicles were recovered. A separate raid in Owerre-Ezukala uncovered a camp linked to proscribed armed groups. Police seized a GPMG with 2,000 rounds, rocket launchers, improvised explosives, grenades and other weapons before dispersing the criminals. Investigations into child trafficking and sexual offences led to the arrest of suspects and the rescue of twelve children. The commissioner thanked residents for intelligence tips and urged continued cooperation to sustain security gains.
