ADC Denies Merger Talks With PRP, Vows to Keep Opposition Coalition Intact

The African Democratic Congress has dismissed claims that it is in discussions with the Peoples Redemption Party ahead of a court ruling on its internal leadership dispute. The party spokesman labelled the story false and urged Nigerians to ignore the rumours. Bolaji Abdullah stressed that coalition leaders are not holding any talks with other parties at the moment. He said the ADC’s focus remains on overturning what it describes as illegal actions by INEC and agents of the ruling party. While open to future alliances that could unite opposition forces before the 2027 elections, the ADC insists it will not abandon its responsibilities. The party expressed confidence that the judiciary will uphold multiparty democracy at this defining moment.

What might be driving these merger rumours about ADC and PRP, and how should voters react if no talks are actually happening?

Who first floated these ADC–PRP merger stories, and what proof shows they're unfounded?

It's interesting how quickly merger rumours spread before any official talks, especially when internal disputes are already under legal review.

I'm not convinced dismissing every merger claim outright is helpful; a bit more openness from ADC could build trust during this leadership dispute.

Tracking official ADC statements and court documents directly can prevent confusion from unverified stories and help citizens stay informed.
