Lookman’s Assist & Yellow Card as Spurs Bow Out to Atletico in UCL Last 16

Lookman’s Assist & Yellow Card as Spurs Bow Out to Atletico in UCL Last 16 — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman set up Atlético Madrid’s equaliser but picked up a yellow card as Spurs fell 5-4 on aggregate despite a 3-2 win at home. Tottenham fought back from a 5-2 first-leg deficit. Kolo Muani opened the scoring in the 30th minute and Xavi Simons slotted home a stoppage-time penalty to seal the 3-2 victory. Álvarez had levelled early in the second half after a Lookman assist. Jan Oblak’s side struck again when Hancko nodded in from a corner, taking the tie beyond Tottenham’s reach. In the dying moments, José María Giménez’s foul on Simons won the decisive spot-kick. The referee’s whistle confirmed Atlético’s place in the quarter-finals.

I get why you'd highlight the assist, but that yellow card afterwards really shifted Spurs' momentum more.

Even with a 3-2 home win, conceding five goals over two legs shows persistent defensive issues for Spurs this season.

I'm not sure Atletico really had it all their way; Tottenham's fightback felt genuinely spirited and full of attacking intent.

Spurs need to tighten up defensively in the next fixtures and make set-piece marking a priority to avoid similar exits.
