Jarigbe Accuses Ayade of ‘Blatant Lies’ and Ethnic Bias

Jarigbe Accuses Ayade of ‘Blatant Lies’ and Ethnic Bias

Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has launched a blistering attack on former Governor Ben Ayade, accusing him of peddling falsehoods and rewriting his political legacy. He described Ayade’s recent statements as “blatant lies” and pointed to past remarks mocking Hausa traditional attire as evidence of bias against Muslims. Jarigbe challenged Ayade’s claims about his role in President Tinubu’s victory, noting that Ayade contested against Tinubu in the primaries and then failed to deliver Cross River State for the APC. He reminded voters of Ayade’s underperformance in Cross River North during his governorship, contrasting it with Jarigbe’s electoral successes in the Senate and state assembly races. Rejecting any formal zoning arrangement for the Cross River North senatorial seat, Jarigbe accused Ayade of defecting from the PDP to the APC out of political survival rather than loyalty. He praised APC leaders for resisting attempts to impose Ayade and warned that the former governor has lost the support of his constituents.

It's interesting that Jarigbe highlights Ayade's past mockery of Hausa traditions when accusing him of ethnic bias now.

Focusing on personal insults might distract voters from scrutinising both politicians on actual policy and governance records.

Journalists and citizens should demand clearer evidence of bias before accepting political accusations as fact.
