US Launches Strike on Iran’s Larak Island as Gulf Tensions Mount

The United States carried out a missile strike on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz after President Trump declared America was “not finished” with Iran. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the operation, accusing Iran of targeting commercial ships and rebuilding drone and missile capabilities. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman says diplomatic contacts still continue through mediators and warns any attack on the Natanz enrichment site would escalate the conflict across the region. Tehran has dismissed claims of an undeclared nuclear facility there. The confrontation has spread across the Gulf. Kuwait and Jordan intercepted drones and missiles, while Bahrain sounded air raid sirens. Global oil prices jumped to their highest in six weeks amid fears for shipping lanes and Saudi export routes.
