Understanding the Day of the Lord: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, Paul teaches that the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, “like a thief in the night.” He warns that those who feel secure will face sudden judgment, but believers live in the light and need not be caught off guard. We’re urged to stay awake and sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate and the hope of salvation as a helmet. Christ died to bring us into fellowship with him, whether we are awake or asleep. Let us encourage and build each other up in these truths. How does this passage shape your view of readiness and hope?
