Ambassador Niniola Denounces False Religious Claims Against Seyi Tinubu

Ambassador Niniola Denounces False Religious Claims Against Seyi Tinubu

I believe dragging God’s name into politics is dangerous in our diverse nation. A statement wrongly attributed to Seyi Tinubu claimed he made offensive remarks about Almighty God and the President’s future. Such misinformation risks dividing Nigerians along religious lines. From my perspective, Seyi Tinubu has always shown deep respect for all faiths. Born Muslim and raised by a Christian mother, he regularly participates in early morning praise sessions while honouring Islamic traditions. His life reflects genuine religious tolerance and unity. We must guard against those who weaponise religion for political gain. I urge Nigerians, media practitioners, and commentators to verify information before sharing it. Our democracy depends on truth, decency, and respect for every faith.

How can we as citizens challenge and prevent these kinds of damaging religious rumours from dividing us politically?

No doubt! We go fact-check rumors first, discuss openly, keep unity strong and no let division win.

It seems odd that such a serious allegation about Seyi Tinubu would spread without any credible source or direct quotation.

Sometimes people assume politicians always lie, but not every false claim is a deliberate smear campaign against Tinubu either.

Media outlets should establish fact-checking teams to authenticate statements before publication and reduce the risk of communal division.
