Tragedy Near Auchi: Suspected Kidnappers in Camouflage Kill Man, Abduct Woman
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed that a young man identified as Christopher was shot dead by suspected kidnappers in Auchi. The incident happened on Monday, April 20, 2026 in the Igbira Camp area, close to a fertilizer depot and military checkpoint. Eyewitnesses say the couple was riding home on a motorcycle when armed men wearing army camouflage intercepted them. Christopher tried to resist and was shot. He was rushed to a health facility but later confirmed dead. His female companion was taken away and her identity remains unknown. Police say efforts are under way to apprehend the suspects and rescue the woman.
