Accord Party Demands Explanation Over ‘Impersonation’ in Ibadan Coalition, Sets 48-Hour Ultimatum

Accord Party Demands Explanation Over ‘Impersonation’ in Ibadan Coalition, Sets 48-Hour Ultimatum

The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Professor Chris Imumolen, has called out leading politicians and parties for using the Accord Party’s identity in a purported Ibadan coalition without consent. He branded the move as deliberate political impersonation, not a misunderstanding. Prof. Imumolen insisted that Accord Party has not approved any alliance with the ADC, PDP, or other blocs and never authorised its name, symbol, or platform in such an arrangement. He said this misrepresentation raises serious questions about the coalition’s credibility. The party has given the conveners of the Ibadan meeting 48 hours to explain how and why its identity was used. Failure to comply will trigger immediate legal action. Accord Party reaffirmed its independent direction for the 2027 elections and its plan to field a presidential candidate under its own banner.

I'm not convinced they intentionally misused the Accord brand; maybe it was a coordination failure rather than deliberate identity theft.

It seems odd they'd rush an Ibadan coalition announcement without verifying Accord Party's agreement first.

Throwing a 48-hour ultimatum feels more like a publicity stunt than a genuine call for accountability.

To resolve this, both parties should meet immediately and draft clear consent guidelines for any future coalitions.
