Malawi Coach Insists “Everything Is Possible” Against Falconets Ahead of Second Leg
Malawi U-20 coach Maggie Chombo insists her side can overturn a 2-0 deficit against the Nigerian Falconets in the second leg of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier. In the first leg in Ikenne, the Falconets dominated before an own goal by Malawi defender Maureen Kenneth gave Nigeria the lead. Kindness Ifeanyi then doubled the advantage in the second half. Despite the tough result, Chombo remains optimistic. “We have learned from that game and will work on our weaknesses at home. They scored on their pitch, but we believe we can do the same in Malawi. Everything is possible and we will give our best to win,” he said. The decisive second leg kicks off at 2pm Nigerian time on May 9 at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi.
