A US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber went down shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday, killing all eight people on board. Base officials said the crash was not survivable. The crew was made up of military personnel, government civilians and private contractors. Boeing confirmed two of its employees were among the victims and extended condolences to the families. Commanders called the incident a “horrible tragedy.”
