WAFCON 2026: Malawi Beat Egypt 3-1 to Move Closer to Historic Quarter-Final Spot

Malawi continued their impressive WAFCON debut with a 3-1 victory over Egypt in their second Group C match. Rose Kadzere scored twice before half-time, while Temwa Chawinga added a third in the 69th minute despite Malawi playing most of the second half with 10 players after Rose Alufandika was sent off. Eman Kassem pulled one back for Egypt two minutes later. The result takes Malawi to six points and puts them temporarily top of Group C. The Scorchers are now close to securing a historic place in the quarter-finals, pending the result of Nigeria's Super Falcons against Zambia.
