Ivory Coast Thrash Burkina Faso 4-1 in WAFCON Opener
Ivory Coast opened their WAFCON campaign with a dominant 4-1 win over Burkina Faso on Monday. Rose Elloh gave the Ivorians an early lead from the penalty spot in the seventh minute. Konan I. then scored twice before halftime, finding the net in the 14th and 23rd minutes to put Ivory Coast 3-0 ahead. Ouedraogo N. added a fourth goal in the 56th minute. Burkina Faso pulled one back four minutes later through Congo A., but Ivory Coast remained in control until the final whistle. Ivory Coast had 52 per cent possession and registered 12 shots, compared with Burkina Faso's six. The result gives them a strong start to the tournament.
