Abia State Police Raid Drug Hideouts, Arrest 31 Suspects

Abia State Police Raid Drug Hideouts, Arrest 31 Suspects

Abia State Police have arrested 31 suspects in a series of raids on drug hideouts across the state. Acting on intelligence, officers from the Central Police Station in Umuahia worked with community vigilantes to storm criminal enclaves in the Mission Hill/New Road axis, known locally as Down Below, and at Amuzukwu. Suspected illicit drugs were recovered at each location. On July 1, the same teams returned to these areas and demolished eight makeshift camps made of bamboo sticks and tarpaulin. The raids targeted criminal syndicates and disrupted their operations. All suspects, aged between 22 and 46 with one woman among them, have been charged to court and remanded. The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting residents and urged the public to provide timely and credible information on criminal activity to the nearest station.
