Pakistan Steps In: Will Host US–Iran Dialogue to De-escalate Middle East Conflict
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Islamabad has the confidence of both the US and Iran to host talks aimed at easing the West Asia war. He spoke after holding consultations with counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey. The ministers reviewed the regional conflict and pledged to seek an early, lasting peace. Dar said all parties agreed dialogue and diplomacy are key to prevent further escalation and devastation. Under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan has engaged with regional and global partners, including the US and China, to support this initiative. Iran has also agreed to allow 20 additional Pakistani-flagged ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This initiative follows two meetings of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. Officials remain hopeful a face-to-face US–Iran meeting will take place in the coming days.
