Urgent Appeal: Rescue 46 Schoolchildren and Teachers Abducted in Oyo State
We write with heavy hearts over the tragic abduction of 46 babies, students, and teachers from three schools in the Esiele/Ahoro-Esinele community of Oriire LGA, Oyo State. Among the victims are young children aged two to four years and dedicated teachers, some of whom were killed during the attack. Despite the launch of joint operations by Amotekun, local vigilantes, and the police, the abductees remain in captivity after nearly two weeks of fear and uncertainty. Families endure sleepless nights, haunted by the unknown fate of their loved ones and unable to bury the fallen. Governors and top federal security officials have visited the area and vowed support, while compensation packages were promised for the families of the murdered forest guards. Yet these measures have not secured the release of the school victims. This is a heartfelt call for immediate, sustained intervention at the highest level to free the remaining abductees safely. Every hour counts for these children still held in the forest without food, shelter, or proper care.
