Two Katsina Residents Remanded for Alleged Bandit Support
A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the remand of two Katsina State residents for allegedly aiding bandits. Sani Mamman of Ruwan Godiya in Faskari LGA is accused of transporting suspected bandits to a forest in March, violating Sections 13(a–c) of the Terrorism Prevention Act. He pleaded not guilty, saying he sells beans in a wheelbarrow and is not a driver. His lawyer told the court he has been detained since his arrest in March. Abubakar Umar of Rimi LGA was arrested on December 2, 2024, for allegedly conveying arms and ammunition to bandits, again under Section 13 of the Act. He denied the charge, stating he is a farmer and perishable goods trader. Justice Shuaibu adjourned the trial to July 7 and 8 and ordered both suspects remanded in a correctional facility within the court’s jurisdiction.
