Kwara Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged ₦1.6m AK-47 Deal

Kwara Police have arrested a suspected kidnap gang member in Kaiama Local Government Area over an alleged plan to buy an AK-47 rifle. The Anti-Kidnapping Section reportedly acted on intelligence on August 3 and arrested Sanda Aliyu before the weapon was delivered. Police said he was negotiating the purchase with another suspect, Aliyu Mohammed, who is still at large. During questioning, Aliyu allegedly said he had paid ₦1.6 million for the rifle. He reportedly claimed he wanted the weapon to rise within his current kidnapping gang before forming his own gang. Police say investigations are continuing to identify other people linked to the alleged arms deal and gang activities.
