FG Expands AI Training Programme to 11,700 Teachers in Unity Colleges

The Federal Government has expanded its AI Teacher Capacity Development Programme to reach about 11,700 teachers in Federal Unity Colleges nationwide. The programme follows a pilot in six schools across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. It will be implemented by the Ministry of Education’s Education Support Services Department in partnership with ICEDT Consult Limited. Teachers will receive practical training in artificial intelligence and digital tools for lesson planning, classroom instruction and responsible AI use. The ministry says the initiative is part of its wider plan to modernise education and prepare students for a digital economy.
