Iran Demands End To Regional Blockade And Release Of Frozen Funds, Excludes Nuclear Talks After US Rejection
Iran’s foreign ministry said its reply to the latest US proposal calls for an end to regional warfare, lifting of the US naval blockade and release of assets frozen in foreign banks. Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stressed Tehran is claiming its “legitimate rights” rather than seeking concessions. The ministry emphasised the need to stop hostilities across the Gulf and return funds it describes as “unjustly trapped” abroad. Washington dismissed Tehran’s response as “totally unacceptable,” according to President Trump’s strong reaction. Tehran also warned European states against involvement in Gulf tensions. Britain and France have discussed forming an international naval task force to secure the Strait of Hormuz, but only after a US-Iran peace deal. On environmental concerns, the ministry denied reports of a major oil leak near Kharg Island and blamed any pollution on US military activities in the region.
