Father Files Affidavit to Halt Autopsy on Late Daughter, Demands Burial

Father Files Affidavit to Halt Autopsy on Late Daughter, Demands Burial — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Mr. Tanko Habila Wisdom has sworn an affidavit in the High Court of Ebonyi State refusing any autopsy on his late daughter, Mary Habila. He asked for her remains to be released immediately for burial and withdrew from further police or court investigations. Miss Habila, a physiotherapist and personal nurse to the Honourable Minister of Works, died on June 27, 2026, at the Minister’s residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State. Although the police and the Minister had sought a post-mortem to determine her cause of death, the family insists on leaving her body intact. The court has not yet ruled on the application to release her remains. The family maintains it suspects no foul play and will not respond to further legal invitations.

I see, he could be leaning on parental authority statutes or religious customs to insist on a prompt burial.

It's striking he withdrew entirely from police or court probes after filing that affidavit in Ebonyi State High Court.

Families facing similar losses could consult legal counsel immediately to balance cultural respect with justice procedures.
