Fans Demand NFF Board Resign After Super Falcons Coaches Are Removed
The Nigeria Football Federation has directed the Super Falcons’ technical crew, led by head coach Justine Madugu, to step down with immediate effect following the team’s disappointing 2026 WAFCON campaign and failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Nigeria, the defending WAFCON champions, lost 3-2 to Malawi in the group stage, exited in the quarter-finals against Cameroon and later lost the World Cup playoff to South Africa. The result ended the Falcons’ record of qualifying for every Women’s World Cup since 1991. Many supporters have criticised the decision to remove the coaches while NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, technical director Austin Eguavoen and the federation’s executive board remain in office. Fans are demanding broader accountability for the decline of both the Super Falcons and Super Eagles.
