Gombe Court Hangs 18-Year-Old for Murder of Mother-of-Eight
A Gombe State High Court has sentenced 18-year-old Mustapha Isah to death by hanging after finding him guilty of killing 58-year-old Aishatu Abdullahi, a mother of eight. Court records say the attack occurred on October 20, 2023, when Isah allegedly forced his way into her Jekadafari home and stabbed her with a knife. The suspect was arrested two days later alongside an accomplice. On April 14, 2026, Justice Abdulhamid-Mohammed Yakubu ruled that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Isah intentionally caused the victim’s death. In delivering judgment, the judge stressed that the gravity of the offence required the full weight of the law to deter future crimes and protect the sanctity of human life.
