Call for Redeemer’s University to Honour RCCG Founder Josiah Akindayomi
Pastor Titi Akindayomi says many people, including some senior pastors, do not know that her father, the late Rev. Josiah Akindayomi, founded the Redeemed Christian Church of God. She is calling for his name and contribution to be more visibly preserved. I believe Rev. Akindayomi’s role should be formally recognised. He established RCCG and later entrusted its leadership to Pastor E.A. Adeboye. Redeemer’s University already honours Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Folu Adeboye through named facilities, but the church’s founder has no comparable institutional recognition. I am not arguing that churches should become family businesses. However, founders should put structures in place to protect their history and legacy. I appeal to RCCG and Redeemer’s University to consider naming the university after Rev. Josiah Akindayomi, so his contribution remains visible to future generations.
