Sanwo-Olu Appeals to Assembly for Backing on Key Projects and Reforms

Sanwo-Olu Appeals to Assembly for Backing on Key Projects and Reforms

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appealed to the Lagos State House of Assembly for continued support to complete ongoing projects and deepen reforms. He made the appeal at the 19th Executive–Legislative Parley at Eko Hotels and Suites. The governor thanked Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and assembly members for passing legislation on transport reforms, infrastructure financing and fiscal measures. He said the House’s budget approvals and oversight strengthened governance and accountability. Sanwo-Olu vowed no major project would be left unfinished, especially in the transport sector, and pledged to complete and commission all outstanding works before his tenure ends. He also announced plans to introduce a Legacy and Transition Bill to institutionalise key policies beyond his administration. To promote inclusive governance, he will convene a Citizens’ Assembly with women, youth, persons with disabilities and other underrepresented groups. He also promised a comprehensive State of Lagos Report by the third quarter, detailing achievements and challenges.

How realistic is it for the Assembly to speed up support and ensure those projects actually finish on time?

True talk! If Assembly cuts red tape, projects go land on time as promised.

I agree, with firmer deadlines and consistent oversight the Assembly can help projects meet targets on schedule.

It's interesting he thanked the Speaker, but previous project delays suggest backing alone won't guarantee timely completion.

More appeals sound nice, yet without clear accountability measures this feels like another round of speeches rather than concrete action.

To keep projects on track, the Assembly could set regular public progress reviews and demand detailed quarterly reports from the governor's office.
