Why I Left the ADC: Peter Obi’s Personal Reflection
Good morning, fellow Nigerians. I woke up today with a reflective heart and felt compelled to share my thoughts on why I decided to leave the African Democratic Congress. We live in a system that often works against honest service. Intimidation, endless scrutiny, and division have become the norm. Even those we expect to support us can add to the pressure instead of offering solidarity. My departure is not due to any mistreatment by Senator David Mark or Alhaji Atiku Abubakar—I continue to respect them. It stems from how state actors and internal battles have shifted focus away from nation-building and genuine service. I am not chasing any title. I want a Nigeria that consoles mothers who lose children to violence, ends displacement camps, and ensures no one sleeps hungry. I remain hopeful that with integrity and compassion, a new Nigeria is possible. Congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on his re-election. We will keep democracy alive and hold leadership to account for a better future.
