FG Reaffirms Nigeria’s Safety as US Embassy Evacuates Staff

FG Reaffirms Nigeria’s Safety as US Embassy Evacuates Staff

The Federal Government has insisted that Nigeria remains safe for both residents and visitors. The US government ordered non-emergency embassy staff and their families to leave Abuja. It also paused visa appointments at the capital mission. Despite the US concerns across 23 states, the FG says the security environment is stable and urges citizens to remain calm. The US Consulate in Lagos will continue visa operations. A recent travel advisory recommends Americans reconsider travel to Nigeria due to crime, terrorism, kidnapping and civil unrest.

It's understandable to worry, but maybe their evacuation relates to broader security precautions, not a direct safety failure here.

It's interesting that the FG downplays risks while visa services are on hold and embassy families depart Abuja.

No be small thing that the US would pause visa appointments and order an evacuation without real security worries behind the scenes.

Travelers and residents should follow official FG updates, adjust plans accordingly, and stay aware of any new advisories from both Nigerian and foreign missions.
